Scottish Country Dance Club – 2nd Friday of the Month

Hello fellow TCSC members and potential new dancers,

I’m Andy McCracken of the Twin Cities Scottish Club.

We are going back to the TCSC roots – back to near the beginning, when Florence Hart, Joe McNee, and my dad, George McCracken, started dancing on Friday nights. Back then, the Scottish Club met every Friday, and did a variety of activities, including dance.

George kept the dancing going, in one form or another, until he passed away in 2007. One of the most recognized things the TCSC was known for was Scottish Country dance.

We’re inviting everyone from 14 to 101 to join us. Scottish Country dance as we know it has it’s roots in 18th century Britain and is a folk dance as well as a ballroom dance, unique to Scotland. It is not overly strenuous but is a nice form of exercise. We are open to BEGINNERS and experienced dancers. If you have never done any kind of dance, try it out!

We’re planning to meet monthly on the 2nd Friday at 7:00pm until 8:30 or so starting on December 9th.

Here is the best part, we will be dancing in a brewery! Our host is Torg Brewery in Spring Lake Park, so come thirsty. We are opening the dancing to their patrons, so, the more the merrier.
